Slotted Line is used to obtain the parameters of standing wave pattern of transmitted and reflected electric fields in a load terminated transmission line.
Slotted Line is a coaxial transmission line and consist of 3 ports as generator port, load port and probe port.
The VSWR value of the load can be calculated from the standing wave generated by the RF signal transmitted from the generator port, depending on the value of the load on the load port, with the electric field samples taken at different locations via the probe port. The
impedance of the load can be calculated by the VSWR value and the electrical distance of the pit point of the standing wave to the load.
The period of the standing wave and the wavelength of the RF signal in the transmission line are proportional to each other.
